Then & Now

The Betsalel for Culture nonprofit was founded in 2017 under the name ManTheWho, driven by a vision to promote culture and art as a social bridge and to strengthen communities through collaborative creation. Since its inception, the organization has operated across various fields, from cultural events and performances to unique workshops designed for diverse audiences, including individuals with special needs, at-risk youth, and trauma survivors.

Our Story

Tom and Einat Betsalel, siblings, artists, and creators, took on the leadership of Man The Who nonprofit in 2024 out of a deep sense of mission and love for the arts. Tom and Einat Betsalel, born and raised in northern Israel near the Lebanese border, recall gazing at the Lebanese mountains as children—landscapes so close yet so inaccessible. Growing up iin a home steeped in art, Tom found his passion in music, while Einat was drawn to the world of dance.

Their environment was a blend of cultures and curiosity and desire to delve deeper into the richness surrounding them. Yet alongside this cultural abundance was a constant sense of boundaries—a physical border they couldn’t cross and a mental barrier that distanced them from truly engaging with neighboring cultures.

This "so close, yet so far" feeling inspired a dream in Tom and Einat: to bridge gaps and connect communities through their greatest passions—art, music, and dance. Thus, their association was born. Their vision was clear: to create a platform enabling people from all backgrounds to share their stories and cultures, discovering new points of connection through art. They aspire to a safe, thriving, and sustainable future where diverse cultures coexist harmoniously and collaborate against the stunning backdrop of the Western Galilee, overlooking the Lebanese mountains
